While we were away on holiday the plumbers came in, removed the broken boiler and got us all plumbed into one boiler system. They also managed to install a bigger gas pipe from the meter to the boiler so now it's running to its full potential. It didn't cost as much as expected, which is good because now we're having a rewire.
After having several electricians round to scratch their heads at our electrical situation and hearing one too many horror stories from the neighbour we decided a full re-wire is the only way we will ever have complete peace of mind that we won't blow up or set on fire. So we packed up all of our things again, moved all the furniture into the middle of each room and shipped out. It's going to be a messy job especially as we don't have the budget to do all the replastering that is needed afterwards but it's definitely for the greater good. In two weeks we'll have a house full of LIGHT! It will be nice to be able to wash up in the evenings without having to take a lamp in to the kitchen.
