2022

Aye aye. Thought I'd do a little update for future me to read. Work on the house has slowed down to a much more normal person pace now but we achieved some things last year.

The whisky room is finished (apart from a new settee which will wait) and is housing the whisky once again. This warm little room has proved to be our absolute salvation through the winter since the rest of the house is bloody freezing. Needs a new coffee table but for some reason we seem to be incapable of making this decision.

We thought we'd make a start gathering ideas and quotes for bathrooms, had one eye watering quote and gave up.

Then we started looking into windows, had an eye watering AND heart attack inducing quote (£24,000!!) - gave up again.

We made some progress in the garden - this seems a long time ago now but we did a spot of minor landscaping and sorted out the mess at the back where the old patio was. It's now a nice flower bed which is going to be great once it gets established.

We also achieved a guest room where the wardrobe room was and it's so much better.

2022 goals....

We're at the point now where we have two major spends ahead of us (windows and bathrooms) and countless small ones. Our priorities for the smaller jobs changes with the weather to the point that we really have no idea what to do first or next. We've got a wall to build at the front, a fence to put up,outhouse to re-roof, internal walls to insulate, the list just goes on and on forever. We just need to pick one and get it done, then save up for the next.

Spending £24,000 on windows in completely out of the question so we're now looking at sourcing and installing them ourselves if we're brave enough. We also need a new back door, which we think we will have to prioritise before next winter to help make us warmer.

For now though it's February and are just going to hibernate by the fire for a few weeks longer.
