It's been a week of behind the scenes happenings, logistics and not much visible progress. We had the gas men in who said that putting our two boiler systems on to one would likely cost "big money". Our gas pipe from the road to the meter was too small (also trailing merrily along the driveway not underground where it's supposed to be) and so is the one from the meter to the boiler so the boiler is under-gassed. Also the second gas meter had been re-installed illegally. Happy days!
We dropped the ceiling in the dining room to make it feel less cave-like, so that looks worse now but is actually much better as the new ceiling will be at least a foot taller and not contain fake beams or gargoyles. But we now know that the shower above it leaks.
However, we do have a beautiful new kitchen floor. And as of about 30 minutes ago the downstairs toilet is back in action - and no longer peach.
